about me

I started this site after coming to New York, both as a blog and as a place in which to organise my photos. It wasn’t a New Year’s resolution, but it lasted about as a long as one - two months. Since then, my updates have been very ad hoc. My only consistency has been bemoaning how inconsistent I am about updating, and even that I’ve stopped doing - I’ve realised that there’s no point in making a chore out of something that I do for enjoyment.

This began as a way for me to make sense of my thoughts, to air my ideas, and in a way to almost cauterise some of my own insecurities by placing them in the open. In some ways, it has morphed, but in many ways its original purpose still holds. When I have time, once in a while, I find myself back here, and I keep it open despite my inconsistencies as my refuge of sorts. There’s something cleansing about organising your thoughts and views - both verbal and visual - and laying them out for yourself and others to see. This is my way, I suppose, of collecting myself.

The tone of this introduction has somehow ended up being much more sombre than my actual personality, but I suppose that’s what happens when you make something the outlet for your sentimentality. If you’ve somehow happened across this page, welcome! I hope that what you see brings you some form of joy or comfort, in the same way that it has comforted me.

WHY SLEEPINGTHALIA?

It’s a childhood nickname. If you take away the “S”, it’s actually just my full name (Chinese name included).
